The J Crew Lady Jacket has been my most worn piece this fall, and for good reason! This classic cardigan is a breeze to style and dress up or down!

If there’s one piece I’ve added to my wardrobe this fall that stands out, it’s the J Crew Emilie Lady Jacket. It brings me back to my college/post-grad days when cardigans were life, preppy was in, and J Crew was where all my first paychecks ended up instead of my savings account (live and learn!).
If I had this cardigan back in the day, I would for sure be styling it with black pixie pants for the office (first job uniform, those were the days!). Fast forward 10 years – I still love this look, but am styling it a little differently!
It’s a great staple that can easily be dressed up or down and will certainly stand the test of time! While I currently only have it in the black ivory stripe colorway, I’m eager to get a solid black and a pop of color when they come back in stock!
How to Style the J Crew Lady Jacket 5 Ways

1. J Crew Lady Jacket with Shorts
Especially before the temperatures dip, I love the look of the lady jacket paired with a pair of shorts for an effortless yet put-together look. Pictured above: Aritiza Anthem Short.

2. J Crew Lady Jacket with active dress
Another play on dressy-casual juxtaposition, I love layering a cardigan over an active dress. Sure – it’s easy to throw on a sweatshirt or some other athleisure adjacent top, but it’s JUST as easy to throw on a cardigan, which completely changes the look. Over the shoulders or draped is adorable!

3. J Crew Lady Jacket with a dress
Here I threw on the cardigan with a simple black slip dress (under $25!) and boots. I didn’t take a picture, but this outfit was extra cute with the cardigan buttoned all the way!

4. J Crew Lady Jacket with White Pants
An obvious pairing (especially for the black ivory stripe colorway) is either black or white pants. I especially love it with white jeans! Sidenote: these are the best white jeans I’ve ever owned.

5. J Crew Lady Jacket with Jeans
And last but not least, because it’s not rocket science – the cardigan no matter the color pairs well with regular jeans. I’ve worn both light and dark wash – either give off their own vibe! Again, I really love it with the buttons buttoned – but didn’t realize this until AFTER I took the photos. Live and learn!
