If I were to go to a Favorite Things party, this Saturday Skin Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel Gel would hands down be my item. Let me tell you why and exactly how to use it.
There’s something about discovering a product before it goes viral/before any of your friends have used it. Like you came across a gold mine on your OWN and now you’re torn on sharing your holy grail secret or keeping it to yourself. That is me with this peel. I received my first bottle of the Saturday Skin Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel Gel a year or so ago in an Allure Beauty box and wasn’t in any rush to use it. When I did end up trying it, I didn’t immediately fall in love or get the hype. That is, until I got the hang of it.
What is the Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel good for?
Because I first dug this out of my beauty sample drawer, I didn’t technically even know what this peel was supposed to do/treat, but what I did know is that it is the only product I’ve used that actually unclogged my pores and cleared away ALL dead skin, making my makeup go on so much smoother. I just checked the Saturday Skin website and it literally says it’s for pores, dullness, uneven skin texture and blemishes. Yep, can confirm–checks out.
Tips for using the Saturday Skin Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel Gel
- Cleanse your face first! While yes, this would probably take your makeup off, you want the peel to work it’s magic on your actual skin, not your makeup residue.
- Blot your face dry before applying. THIS IS KEY. I usually am applying when I’m in the shower and bring a dry face towel in with me to blot my face dry before applying.
- Use enough product. This is also key. I wasn’t using enough product the first probably 10 times I used this. It wasn’t until I used a larger amount that the lightbulb went on.
- Rub! Hence the name, rub-a-dub. Rub little circles with decent pressure for at least one whole minute, focusing on your problem areas where your pores get clogged the most. I make sure to focus on my nose, chin and in-between my eyebrows/around eye bones (not technical term but I tend to get a lot of makeup buildup in this area for some reason). You’ll know it’s working when you start to feel the product get kind of…beady and rubbery let’s say? Like after you’ve used an eraser in 2nd grade. That’s all your dead skin cells and build up. Kinda gross, but I promise very satisfying.
- Rinse!
And then boom. You are left with the most perfect skin.
How often should you use the Rub-A-Dub peel?
Because this is a peel, you don’t want to overuse it or treat it like a cleanser. The bottle says once or twice a week, so I usually save it for my *the shower* before the weekend and then one day during the week. But definitely before any event, going out, etc. In fact, I used this the morning of my wedding and my makeup artist WOULD not stop asking why my skin was glowing (true love, duh!). I told her about this peel and she (and my hair stylist) both bought it on the spot.
Long story short: Get this peel and thank me later. At $28, it’s definitely worth a try. And you can bet I’m ordering a few extra right after I publish this because you can never be too careful.
