I’m sharing how we refreshed our outdoor space on a budget, plus the best affordable outdoor sectional + patio furniture!
It’s finally starting to warm up and that means patio weather! I had so much fun creating an outdoor area that feels like a second living room – it gets a LOT of use and makes our home feel so much bigger.
What no one tells you about outdoor furniture is that it’s not any less expensive than indoor furniture–in fact in a lot of cases, it’s somehow even more expensive (especially when it comes to outdoor sectional sofas!). Luckily, we found some great affordable patio furniture when we moved in that has held up wonderfully. Everything I’m sharing today we’ve had for over three years now, and it still looks GREAT!
Best Affordable Outdoor Sectional Set
We found this affordable outdoor sectional + chair set at a local furniture store (reminder to check your local stores, too!), but it’s also online a few places (here and here – note one set comes with a bench instead of a chair). The cushions are plush, have held up well, and are a step above the flatter ones found on many of the cheaper Amazon outdoor sets. I really think it’s worth the extra in-between price point to get something that will hold up year after year and continue to look and feel good. While we bring the cushions inside for the winter time, they’re out rain or shine all other months of the year and haven’t faded at all even with inclement weather, and the frame itself still looks brand new!
Pros: Cushiony, comfy, durable, good seating capacity, throw pillows included (I used the included pillows as inserts and put covers on them)
Cons: I believe it only comes in the one left-sided L-shaped sectional shape, vs. other modular design sectionals you can change the configuration.
Best Affordable Outdoor Firepit
This firepit from Amazon ended up being a perfect match material/size-wise to go with the sectional. It looks like a matching coffee table – almost like they were meant for each other! We LOVE this firepit table – the size is great, it gives off great heat (flame is adjustable), it comes with a cover that we throw on in the winter, and it has optional tempered glass you can put around the flame for safety. Not to mention it’s the perfect height to use as a dinner table or for drinks and snacks during the day. It has great reviews and you can’t beat free two-day shipping if you’re a Prime member, especially with something that size!
Outdoor Rug
A good outdoor rug really makes a patio space feel more intentional, plus it’s a great way to add a pop of color. I incorporated our tropical theme with this blue palm outdoor rug from Amazon that was under $70 and has held up wonderfully. The 5×8 was the perfect size for the outdoor couch, corner chair, and outdoor coffee table/firepit to fit on.
Outdoor Pillow Covers
If you’re buying outdoor seating that comes with pillows, do yourself a favor and go to HomeGoods and get some better-looking pillows or use some cute weather resistant removable covers. I found these embroidered tropical pillow covers on Amazon that fit the vibe and have withstood three summers now!
Outdoor Faux Palm Trees
I was definitely feeling a tropical vibe when I made my selections, and continued the palm tree pillows + rug theme on with, yep, faux palm trees! I ordered this one for the deck and loved it so much, I immediately ordered this pair with these planters for our front porch. They are wonderful and as much as I’d love to have real palm trees, you can’t beat the maintenance (or lack thereof) of faux. Purchase once, enjoy forever!
I hope this post gets you excited to decorate and create a wonderful outdoor living space of your own, even if you’re on a budget (remember, it doesn’t have to all be done at once). Have fun being your own interior designer (or would be exterior?), picking out fabric colors and furniture pieces to create the perfect outdoor space for your home!
