5 Best Lifestyle Podcasts of 2023 – Pop Culture, Wellness, Comedy

If you love pop culture, wellness and business/finance, you’ll love this list of best lifestyle podcasts.

best lifestyle podcasts

Why should you listen to podcasts?

I’m a big podcast fan. If you know me, you know I don’t like watching TV/movies. Podcasts, though? Different story. If you love consuming lifestyle content through Instagram and TikTok, you can consume a lot of the same content via podcasts without the screen time – and with the opportunity to multitask. The fact that you can pop in a pod and clean, go for a bike ride, walk your dog, run errands, work out, cook – GAME CHANGER. I’d even go as far as to say that podcasts heighten my productivity because they keep me from scrolling on my phone. I pop my headphones in, set my phone somewhere (aka lose it, always), and get lost in the task at hand.

If you’re not a podcast fan yet, you’re missing out. There is a podcast for everyone no matter what your interests are. If you’re looking for a place to get started, or just looking for some new shows to try, here are a few of the best lifestyle podcasts that I’ve grown to love (plus a few that I’m leaving behind!).

Best Lifestyle Podcasts Going into 2023

  1. The Toast Podcast

I found The Toast (previously The Morning Toast, the OG’s know) years ago when an old coworker told me I sounded like one of the podcast hosts. That piqued my interest, so I gave it a go. Immediately, I was offended because both of the hosts voices + the speed they talk at + the inside jokes they constantly drop were incredibly annoying. Which. yes, made me question: is my voice that annoying?! Clearly I got over it. Now Jack’s and Claude are a part of my daily routine! Because I don’t watch a lot of TV/movies, this podcast is how I keep up to date on pop culture AKA what the rest of the world is talking about. If you give this one a go, I promise you’ll get used to their voice/personalities/inside jokes after a while. You’ll be singing the final countdown and dora the explorer in no time (if you’re already a listener, you know!).

  2. The Skinny Confidential Podcast

If you’re looking for a wellness podcast that will get you deep into topics you didn’t even know about, it’s this one! Warning: some episodes will make you feel like you have to change everything in your life. Like, what?! I have to get a water filter for my whole house? Alcohol does what to my body? Overhead lighting, ingredients in my cleaners, ingredients the wine industry uses, THE SUN?! Even if I don’t take all the advice from each of the guests, it’s interesting to dig deeper and learn about things that might change the way you think!

  3. What We Said Podcast

This one, admittedly, feels like it’s geared for a slightly younger audience, especially when it comes to some of their advice episodes (ex: when callers have high school drama it makes me notice my wrinkles a little more). But sometimes you get sucked in by podcast personalities and then boom – you’re invested! I truly enjoy listening to Jaci and Chelsey talk about their daily lives and despite some of the topics being geared younger, what’s going on in their personal lives resonates with me–fertility journeys, being a first time mom, marriage advice. And I love when they have their husbands on!

  4. A Thing or Two with Claire and Erica

This one I would be surprised if other people know about. I started listening when it was fairly new and feel like it’s still a hidden gem. They describe it as ‘a unique mix of urgent discussions of non-urgent things and thoughtful discussions of important, and often otherwise ignored, things’ and I find that pretty spot on. I’ve found a few more unique brands through them over the years and love that it’s a change from the churn and burn of mainstream thoughts/brands/products. They also have a really great newsletter that I look forward to each week!

  5. Trading Secrets Podcast – Jason Tartick

I’m not a finance expert, but Jason Tartick makes the topic fun, interesting to listen to, and approachable. He interviews different celebrities, entrepreneurs and influencers to get in the weeds about how they got started, what they’ve learned along the way, etc. He usually gets some ballpark numbers for how much money they make, investing strategies, and how their industry works. While I am frequently questioning my career path after hearing about what other people are making in different industries, it’s eye opening, a great listen and motivates me to have better financial habits!

HONoRABLE MENTIONS for best lifestyle podcasts

  • Be There In Five (really deep dives – I save these episodes for cleaning. Not for the short attention spanned!)
  • Absolutely Not with Heather McMahan – I usually lean toward more informative podcasts these days, but if I need a laugh, Heather gets the job done!
  • Giggly Squad with Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner – this one is a good mix of pop culture/comedy/rambling when that’s the mood I’m in.

Podcasts I’VE MOVED ON FROM

  1. Call Her Daddy

Judge me–I used to be a big Call Her Daddy fan back in my single days. Since the whole Alex/Sofia split, I just haven’t been quite as invested. First – I think I just grew out of a lot of the ‘advice’ given and second – I feel so bad for saying this. I just don’t think Alex is the best interviewer. Totally respect her and the MASSIVE list of incredible guests that she has had as of late, but sometimes when I listen I’m like hand me the microphone!!! I would be asking way more important/interesting questions!

  2. Girls Gotta Eat

I feel bad about moving this one to the leave behind list after being a fan for so long, but the 40 minute intros about upcoming live shows killed this one for me. Also – some of the topics, similar to Call Her Daddy, are covering topics that aren’t necessarily for the stage of life I’m in now. But – if you’re young and single, I would give this a try. They have a lot of great episodes on dating and early relationships!

  3. Bachelor podcasts

I’ve left most of the Bachelor/former Bachelor contestant hosted podcasts behind. I stopped watching the show three-ish years ago so feel like I’m disconnected from the franchise these days! I still occasionally listen to Ashley I and Naz Perez’s I Don’t Get It Podcast, but if you haven’t been a long time listener of that one, you probably won’t appreciate it as much. My brain cells melt when I listen to it (but I secretly love it).

All in all – I find the more podcasts I listen to, the less screen time I have–which means getting more done and being in a better mood. I’d love to know if you listen to any of the podcasts that made this list, or if you have any recommendations I should look into!
