The Tate dress is a classic, and I couldn’t be more excited to share my Tuckernuck Tate dress review with you today!
Meet the Tuckernuck Tate Dress
The Tuckernuck Tate Dress is a best-seller for a reason. It’s a classic, tried and true style that will stand the test of time. A feminine play on a shirt dress, the Tate dress has a ruffle collar and half placket, a perfectly pleated swing skirt, and the best part, a boxy silhouette that isn’t too tight but is just as trendy.
The Tate dress from years ago is the same as it is today – and that’s a good thing! I rather invest in a piece that will last me years to come vs. be out of style by the end of the season.
Another Tuckernuck favorite: The Winnie Blouse
I love that the dress can easily be dressed up or down and can take you from the office to brunch or dinner with ease and style. I reach for it most for dinner dates as someone who always appreciates long sleeves in chilly restaurants.
I love the Tate Dress because it can work in all seasons (view current selections here!). Summer? Pick a bright color and pair it with sandals. Fall? Pair it with some tall boots. Winter? Try it in the Noir Cypress Toile fabric (a slightly thicker material). And this floral for spring? Groundbreaking.
Sidenote: The print I’m wearing is from last year and is no longer available.
Does Tuckernuck run small? Tate dress sizing
In my experience, the Tate dress sizing runs true to size. Keep in mind that it is a boxier, looser-fitting dress. I really appreciate that many of their pieces, including this one, come in XXS which helps me get closer to a petite size especially when it comes to length in dresses.
Is the Tate dress good for petites?
Yes! I find some of the length of the Tate dress to be perfect for Petites! For reference, I’m 5’2″ and wearing an XXS. I do feel that wearing with a slight heel helps make the length look even better (but when you’re short – doesn’t everything?).
Lastly, if for whatever reason you don’t love the dress (rare), good news: Since it’s a longstanding style, it holds its value well if you were to resell it on a site like Poshmark. I only know this because I have stalked resell sites to try and get previous years’ patterns. The price for used styles hovers around retail.
I hope you find this Tuckernuck review helpful – I hope to do more Tuckernuck reviews (especially when it comes to petitie outfits) in the future!
